Schedule Overview

Night Shifts Only:

  • Time: 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM

  • Rotation: 4 Days On, 2 Days Off or 5 Days On, 2 Days Off

  • Wages are governed by the BCNU Provincial Collective Agreement.

Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse Role

As a Registered Nurse (RN) within our long-term care setting, you will play a critical leadership and hands-on care role, ensuring the well-being, safety and comfort of residents throughout the night shift. Your duties will encompass:

1. Resident Coordination

  • Managing Admissions & Discharges – Ensure seamless transitions for incoming and outgoing residents by adhering to clinical and administrative protocols.

  • Transfer Oversight – Coordinate and supervise internal or external resident movements with full medical and safety documentation.

2. Health Assessments and Care Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments for all residents and design individualized care plans.

  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists and allied healthcare staff to adjust treatments and interventions as required.

3. Medication Administration & Wound Care

  • Dispense medications and treatments as per physician directives.

  • Provide wound care, track healing progress and intervene if complications arise.

4. Documentation and Record Management

  • Utilize PointClickCare (PCC), our preferred electronic medical record (EMR) system, for all documentation tasks.

  • Complete Minimum Data Set (MDS) Assessments and ensure compliance with Ministry and BCCNM standards.

5. Communication and Team Collaboration

  • Liaise with Physicians, Families & Allied Staff – Maintain regular and compassionate communication.

  • Participate in resident-centered meetings, such as medication reviews and care conferences.

  • Serve as a mentor and supervisor to Care Aides and support staff.

6. Charge Nurse Responsibilities

  • Assume leadership role on the floor during your shift.

  • Ensure clinical standards and protocols are followed at all times.

  • Provide guidance, emergency response leadership and decision-making authority as required.

Qualifications & Competencies

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must meet the following:

  • Active registration and good standing with BCCNM (British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives)

  • Certification in CPR & First Aid – Up-to-date and verifiable

  • Advanced documentation skills with familiarity in PointClickCare (PCC) and eMAR

  • Fluency in English – Verbal and written communication is essential

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living or geriatric settings is preferred

  • Full COVID-19 Vaccination Record – In compliance with public health mandates
