Degree Level

The Gates Scholarship 2024-25 in the USA (Fully Funded) is available for undergraduate level programs at USA universities.

Available Subjects

All subjects are eligible for study under this scholarship program.

Scholarship Benefits: Scholars will receive funding covering the entire cost of attendance not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, assessed through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the methodology used by the Scholar’s college or university.

Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room and board, book expenses, transportation and possibly other personal costs.

Eligible Nationalities: The scholarship is open to US citizens.

Eligibility Criteria: Basic Eligibility:

Must be a high school senior. From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American and/or Hispanic American*. Must be Pell-eligible. Should be a US citizen, national or permanent resident. Must maintain good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Planning to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university. *For American Indian/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required.

Ideal Candidate:

Boasts an outstanding academic record in high school (ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class). Displays leadership ability through participation in community service, extracurricular activities or other endeavors. Possesses exceptional personal success skills such as emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance and more.

Application Procedure

Create an account: Starting July 1, 2024, you can create an account on the Gates Scholarship website: https://www.thegatesscholarship.org/scholarship. Complete your myTGS profile: This involves providing information about your background, academic achievements, extracurricular activities and future goals.

Request letters of recommendation: You’ll need two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher or counselor and one from another individual who can speak to your academic ability and leadership potential.

Write your essays: There are three essay prompts: Personal Statement: Tell your story and explain why you deserve the Gates Scholarship. (750 words) Leadership Essay: Describe a leadership experience you’ve had and how it impacted you and others. (500 words) Gates Impact Essay: Explain how you plan to use your education to improve the lives of others in your community and beyond. (500 words)

Submit your application: The application deadline is October 15, 2024. Don’t wait until the last minute to submit!
